Lab Series: Powerful Forces
A
thrilling, hands-on STEM adventure into the forces that shape our
world — coming soon!
Step into the world of
unstoppable motion, incredible energy, and dramatic natural wonders
with Exploration Lab
Series: Powerful Forces,
a multi-sensory STEM unit designed for curious, hands-on
learners—especially neurodiverse children and 2e learners who thrive on movement,
visual learning, and real-world experimentation. This immersive study
explores the extraordinary forces God designed into creation,
revealing how they shape continents, move oceans, build storms,
sculpt landforms, and launch rockets into space. Along the way,
children build essential geography
skills as they investigate how natural forces reshape coastlines,
shift sand dunes, carve rivers, and transform environments;
foundational math
skills as they measure, graph, compare, and record the effects of
motion and change; and meaningful history
connections,
exploring how natural forces have impacted civilisations, inspired
inventions, influenced early engineering, and shaped human adaptation
across time.
This immersive unit study blends science, STEM, geography, math, engineering, social studies, history, and language arts as children explore the powerful forces that shape Earth’s landscapes, structures, weather systems, inventions, and God’s extraordinary creation.
Learners will investigate:
- Gravity
— the force that anchors everything to Earth
- Tornadoes
— swirling towers of air showing the raw power of wind
- Waves
& water pressure
— how oceans carry immense energy across the world
- Buoyancy
& floating —
why boats and sea creatures rise on water
- Earthquakes
& seismic forces
— the shaking and shifting of Earth’s plates
- Dune
movement & erosion
— how wind and water reshape landscapes and coastlines
- Magnetism
& invisible pulls
— exploring magnetic attraction and repulsion
- Air
forces—lift, drag, and thrust
— discovering how planes fly
- Rocket
propulsion — the
explosive force that sends spacecraft skyward
- Structural
forces —
compression, tension, torsion, bending, and how they hold buildings
and bridges together
- Environmental
forces — storms,
tides, currents, lightning, and more
Through immersive, hands-on
activities, children will build bridges, create wave trays, blow and
shape their own moving sand dunes, design mini wind tunnels, test
magnetic mazes, simulate earthquakes, launch paper rockets, graph
distances and speeds, compare erosion models, and explore how past
civilisations responded to natural forces—from ancient engineering
solutions to early flight experiments. Each lesson uses a calm,
predictable rhythm with visual supports, movement breaks, and
flexible output options perfect for diverse learning needs.
Faith reflections gently connect
each scientific force to God’s purposeful, intelligent design,
helping children see the world as an extraordinary creation full of
order, power, and wonder.
