Simple
Machines in Motion – A Journey Through Time
A hands-on
STEM + History adventure — coming soon!
Step into an exciting timeline of
invention and innovation with Simple
Machines in Motion – A Journey Through Time,
a unique cross-curricular unit study that blends STEM, engineering,
transport history, and hands-on discovery. Designed for curious
learners and neurodiverse thinkers who thrive with visual, tactile,
and sequential learning, this study explores how simple machines
powered some of the greatest leaps in human progress.
From ancient pyramids to medieval
castles, early wheels to warplanes, learners will trace the story of
how levers, pulleys, ramps, screws, wheels, wedges, and gears shaped
entire civilizations — and still power the technology we use today.
This journey highlights real machines, real inventors, and real
engineering marvels across history, showing students how simple ideas
became world-changing innovations.
This cross-curricular study brings together history, STEM, science, engineering, math, geography, social studies, research skills, and early reading comprehension as children explore how simple machines shaped ancient civilizations, medieval inventions, and modern technology.
Children will explore:
- Ancient
Egypt, where levers
and ramps moved massive stones
- Mesopotamia,
where the wheel sparked the first transportation revolution
- Greek
and Roman engineering,
including cranes, aqueducts, and catapults
- Medieval
castle machines,
like pulleys, drawbridges, and trebuchets
- Renaissance
innovations,
including Leonardo da Vinci’s mechanical designs
- Industrial
transformations,
from gears and pistons to steam power
- Modern
technology, where
simple machines still drive planes, rockets, and robotics
Hands-on STEM challenges, mini
builds, visual diagrams, and historical investigations guide learners
step-by-step as they discover how simple machines shaped human
movement, construction, travel, warfare, and modern invention.
This upcoming unit is packed
with:
- Discovery-based
history lessons
- Multi-sensory
STEM activities
- Practical
engineering builds
- Transport
and technology case studies
- Structured learning flow perfect for neurodiverse children
