Tiny
Architects: Ocean Dwellers
A Deep-Sea
STEM Adventure — Coming early 2026!
Get ready to dive beneath the
waves with Tiny
Architects: Ocean Dwellers,
an immersive, hands-on unit study that explores the extraordinary
creatures who build,
engineer, and shape the
underwater world. This upcoming study blends marine biology,
real-world engineering, ecosystem science, and creative design to
spark curiosity in learners who thrive on visual, multi-sensory, and
neurodiverse-friendly experiences.
In this unit, children will meet
some of the ocean’s most remarkable “architects” — creatures
who design homes, build structures, and modify their environments
with engineering brilliance. From coral polyps constructing entire
reef “cities,” to hermit crabs renovating mobile homes, to
octopuses rearranging shells to design the perfect den, every lesson
reveals how marine life uses structure, pattern, problem-solving, and
innovation to survive.
This underwater unit study weaves together STEM, science, marine biology, math, engineering, geography, social studies, history connections, and language arts as children explore the remarkable ocean creatures who build, design, and shape the underwater world.
Learners will discover:
- Coral polyps
creating limestone skyscrapers and reef ecosystems
- Hermit crabs
acting as tiny home renovators
- Male pufferfish
crafting geometric sand mandalas to attract mates
- Octopuses
building and customizing complex dens
- Shrimp + goby pairs
collaborating as co-engineers of burrow tunnels
- Tube worms, sponges,
barnacles, mussels,
and other marine “builders” shaping the seafloor
Through hands-on models, design
challenges, diagrams, experiments, and creative STEM tasks, children
will explore how these ocean dwellers build, communicate, adapt, and
thrive — all while strengthening observation, critical thinking,
and a lifelong love of learning.
Releasing soon
— perfect for ocean-loving kids, STEM enthusiasts, and families
eager for a an engaging, visually rich learning adventure.
